A practical guide to hiring a cigar roller: what shapes your quote, how to plan for your guests, and what to confirm with your venue.

How much does a cigar roller cost?

There isn’t one useful price for every event. A small local gathering and a destination celebration may need very different amounts of staffing, preparation, travel, and service time.

For a meaningful quote, start with the date, venue, city, adult guest count, and the experience you want. Ask that the proposal clearly separates what is included from optional extras.

  • Cigar quantity: The number of cigars requested is a different decision from the total event guest count.
  • Service hours: Consider how long guests will have access to the station, not just the full event duration.
  • Roller staffing: The number of artisans and the style of guest interaction can affect the plan.
  • Travel and access: Location, parking, loading, arrival windows, and overnight travel can change logistics.
  • Personalization: Custom bands, artwork preparation, and presentation requests should be discussed in advance.

Plan cigar quantity and rolling time separately.

Not every guest will want a cigar, and not every cigar needs to be made while that guest waits. Start with your estimated adult attendance, then discuss how many people are likely to participate.

Clarify whether you want an interactive rolling demonstration, cigars available for guests during the event, or a combination. Ask how any advance preparation and on-site rolling fit together so the station can serve your expected guest flow.

A useful question is: “If a group arrives at the station at once, how will they be looked after?” Your plan should account for conversation, demonstrations, and cigar availability, rather than assuming a fixed number rolled per hour.

What should you confirm with your venue?

Before you book, ask the venue about live cigar rolling and tobacco use separately. Permission for a demonstration does not necessarily mean guests can smoke in the same location.

  • Approved station and smoking locations: Confirm where rolling, cigar distribution, and smoking are permitted.
  • Vendor access: Share load-in instructions, parking arrangements, elevator access, and the permitted arrival time.
  • Space and equipment: Agree on table size, linen, chairs, lighting, and who supplies each item.
  • Outdoor conditions: Discuss shade, wind exposure, weather protection, and a backup location.
  • Vendor requirements: Ask whether the venue needs insurance documents or other approvals, and confirm those requirements before booking.

Share your planner or venue contact when useful. Clear expectations help the station feel like a considered part of the event.

What can be personalized?

Custom cigar bands can bring a wedding monogram, event theme, or company artwork into the experience. Discuss the design, quantity, approval process, and production lead time before treating any custom item as confirmed.

Other details to review include the rolling station’s placement, the flow of the event, and how the display complements your surroundings. The proposal should identify any agreed custom items.
